Scared to Look!

Good Grief! I am scared to look at the number of days to go!  Went for a great ride on Friday along a road that previously I have struggled with, pats on the back for me!  Yesterday back to the Centenary Highway ride to Southbank, it too was a good ride. This week I have Wednesday through to the following Monday off, so it will be riding riding riding!

Purchased a stool for the trip and will be looking at getting all my stuff organised.

Purchased a Solar Powered Battery charger for the Iphone, it has not arrived yet but will keep you posted on its performance.  A free app details how long it will need to be in the sun to fully charge the Iphone!

48 Days to Go!

I get a shock when I log on and see the number of days to go!!!! For the past couple of weeks I have been riding from Jindalee to Southbank via a bike pathway along the Centenary Highway and Brisbane River.  It is dotted with some challenging hills, a couple of which I am yet to conquer! A few people have suggested I fit myself out with Cleats..........
This is now the next day Monday 19th July,  I conquered one of the hills yesterday - yippee!
One down one to go!  Off again today!
Now as for the Cleats, not me, I am aware that it could create a fall if I don't get my foot undone quick enough!  What I did purchase were pedals with straps that you slip your foot into! They are good to pedal with once you get your foot in!  But alas they can also cause you to fall, which I did!  Ah well!
Also downloaded a new IPhone App called Rider Log, it is an excellent app apart from the fact it chews up the Battery.  The App has a GPS and tracks your speed and directions, great idea.

MS Brissie to Bay -50k Bike Ride

The day began just prior to 5!  Bit chilly, but sprung out of bed looking forward to the ride today. Akira thought she was coming along too, so sad seeing her standing at the gate waiting to come along :(  Love the way when you are driving to these events, the number of people riding, front and back lights blinking away to warn drivers of their presence. Around 4000 riders participated in this years event and they raised a massive $300k for Multiple Sclerosis!
In their wisdom the race is started in what they call waves, I was in the last wave. There are some real clowns in the ride, one chap had his water bottle stuck on with black tape! There were people dressed up in different outfits, all for the purpose of winning a prize at the end.
The ride itself was good, a couple of times I alighted due to the incline!!! But I wasn't the only one.  Around half way we were blessed with a "recovery" stop where they supplied us with Gatorade, banana, and a health bar! Great ride, great day!

Garden City to Southbank and Return

Freezing, freezing, freezing! Thought I would be able to take my vest of half way, but no, it was still on when I returned to the car!  Wind chill!
Interesting ride, mainly on designated Bike Path, and short stints on footpath!  Views of the city as you ride along and the ride comes out not far from the Story Bridge so it is a short stint to Southbank!
Don't know the 'k' reading as the doovie on my bike decided not to work today!
At this stage of the training it is all about completion not time, all about strengthening the muscles!
